Writers who have Influenced Tia
A) My most recent discovery thanks to Tia is another Canadian artist called Amanda Marshall. Tia told me about Amanda’s song “Believe in You” lyrics Tia says of the song, “Tommy and I were out shopping in the mall one day and it came on and just floored me. We went home, found the lyrics and learned how to play it on the guitar.” I can see why the lyrics floored her…
You can find out more about Amanda Marshall at www.amandamarshall.com which also links to some fansites and.includes a lovely message explaining her feelings about 'Intermission' her most recent album. There is a good biography at http://www.canoe.ca/JamMusicPopEncycloPagesM/marshall_amanda.html
Thanks, Helen
B) Jerry Jeff Walker
Wrote ‘Mr Bojangles’ lyrics which Tia has performed at every gig this tour, to my knowledge. Everyone was in awe at her performance of this wonderful song, which she said was one of her favourites as a child. Tia says if she was to do a cover of any song, this would be it!!
t has been recorded manytimes by many artists, including jerry Jeff Walker himself, Harry Belafonte, Bob Dylan, JimCroce, Sammy Davis Jr, Neil Diamond, Nancy Wilson, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, and Cyndee Peters.
